To Protect and Serve

today is my cleaning day. and, as i was cleaning i had the tv on. {you know, for background noise.} i walked in right as regis and kelly were being interrupted for a breaking news story. a gilbert police officer was shot and killed. the chief was so emotional. he could barely get through his statements. the news made me very sad. a few moments later cade came in and asked me what was wrong. i'm not sure why it hit me so hard. maybe watching this grown man cry because he lost an officer. maybe because i was married to one for five years. and, i know that majority of them have a genuine love for their job. and, that is why they do it. {definitely not for the money.} and i know that most of them are good people. {except sheriff joe. and i don't consider him a real police officer. but, i won't go there.} anyway. my heart goes out to his family and to his police family. {and i hope the dirt bags who did it are punished. severely.}
